Training of Egyptian & Non-Egyptian doctors

  • The institute trains Egyptian university graduates with master’s or doctorate degree for a period of six months, renewable for another similar period, in the field of ophthalmology and surgery, during the past five years 84 Egyptian doctors have been trained plus 20 foreigners.
  • The institute also trains doctors specializing in ophthalmology and surgery according to the Egyptian Fellowship Program, during the past five years, 75 Egyptian doctors were trained plus 14  foreign doctors.

A  training program was arranged for

from 17 African countries

under the auspices of Arab Republic of Egypt, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to  activate the role of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) which was announced the launch by President “Abdel Fattah AI-Sisi” in his speech at the twenty-third Summit of the African Union in Malabo (June 2014).

  • Several lectures that focused on various aspects of treating cataracts and glaucoma were given, as they are among the most important causes of low or lost vision in Africa and the methods of early diagnosis and treatment.
  • The doctors were also trained in cataract operations using Phaco Surgery Simulator and they follow-up of various surgeries directly through the television circles.

  • The training course certificates were delivered to the African doctors in the presence of His Excellency Professor Dr. / Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

African ophthalmology colleagues training

  • Medical convoys can be activated regularly for  various countries in Africa  that need help,  where an abundant number of surgeries can  be performed, as well as training ophthalmologists and giving them the opportunity to raise their surgical level.
  • On the other hand, it is possible to host a number of doctors periodically for periods ranging from 3 to 6 months at the Institute to sharpen their diagnostic and surgical skills.
  • Therefore, the cooperation in this field  can lead to very good results in the short and long term.
